About Bareilly
A city in Uttar Pradeshs Bareilly district, Bareilly is situated along the Ramganga, around 252 kilometres north of the state capital of Lucknow, and 250 kilometres east of New Delhi. With its inclusion on the list of the counter magnets to the National Capital Region, Bareilly, the seventh-largest city of the state, has grown in status. It also figures on the list of cities to be developed under the Centres Smart Cities Mission.

Demographics

According to the 2011 Indian Census, Bareilly had a population of 903,668, of which 476,927 were males and 426,741 were females. The sex ratio was 895. Population within the age group of 0 to 6 years was 107,323. The total number of literates in Bareilly was 543,515, which constituted 60.1% of the population, of which male literacy is 66.5% and female literacy is 55.7%. The effective literacy rate of 7+ population of Bareilly was 68.3%, of which male literacy rate was 72.7% and female literacy rate was 63.2%. The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes had a population of 71,215 and 2,771 respectively. In 2011, Bareilly had a total of 166222 households.[3]

City infrastructure
The Indian Air Force has a base at Izzatnagar on the outskirts of Bareilly. Though it is not open to civil aviation, a civilian terminal is being planned adjacent to the runway. When it comes to railway transport, six stations serve this city, which falls on the Moradabad-Lucknow route. It also enjoys smooth road connectivity, with a traditional street system of most roads oriented towards different cities.
The city centre witnesses the intersection of Nainital Road and Bada-Bazaar-Shahamat Ganj Road at a street known as Kutubkhana. The Ayub Khan Chauraha-Chaupla and Chowki Chauraha-Chaupla Roads run from Lucknow Road to Delhi Road. There also are a number of arterial roads running through the city. The inter-city satellite bus stand and the old bus stand in Civil Lines provide bus transport to various locations. National Highway-24, which connects New Delhi to Lucknow via Bareilly and a few other areas, is being expanded to four lanes. The Bareilly Ring Road offers a great platform for the establishment of industries, multinational companies, residential townships, shopping malls, and other social and civic infrastructure.

Real estate
Properties in Bareilly draw investors from all sections of the society. One could also consider buying plots, given the developments going on in and around the city. Several prestigious real estate developers are coming up with housing projects, including villas in the outskirts, here. FCI Colony and Mahanagar Colony are two of the localities that have upcoming residential properties.

Lifestyle
Bareilly is home to a large number of religious places. Among the major temples are Tapeshwar Nath, Sita Ram Mandir, Pasupati Nath, Alakha Nath, Trivati Nath, ISKCON temple, Laxmi Narayan Mandir, Bankebihari Mandir, Balaji Dham, etc. The most popular Gurudwaras are Bada Gurudwara, Gurudwara Sri Guru Nanak Darbar, Gurudwara Singh Sabha, Gurudwara Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib, Gurudwara Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, and a few others. There are also a host of churches and mosques in the vicinity.
Bareilly has a number of parks all over the city, which is home to a large number of schools and colleges as well. The principal universities are M J P Rohilkhand University, Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Institute of Dental Sciences Bareilly, Invertis University, and Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management and Technology. The colleges offer courses in various disciplines like law, medicine, engineering, etc.
The city also houses Dori Lal Agarawal Sports Stadium, Major Dhyan Chand Sports Stadium, and a cricket academy. The city has its fair share of art & culture organisations, art galleries, and theatres.

Bareilly is the headquarters of Bareilly region of UPSRTC, which has four depots and twelve stations under it.[66][67] The city has two Bus stations, from where inter-city buses operate.

    Bareilly city is served by the Bareilly Airport (IATA: BEK, ICAO: VIBY) – a civil enclave at the Indian Air Force’s ‘Trishul Air Base’ in Izzatnagar, 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) north of the city centre.
