Projected by a recent study as the India’s city of the decade 2011-2021, Faridabad is an ancient, industrial city located in the northern Indian state of Haryana. Connectivity
- Faridabad can be reached by air through the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport at New Delhi. IGI airport connects Faridabad to major national and international destinations
- The city is well connected by roads as well. The Delhi-Mathura Road, which is the NH 2, passes right through the city. The road networks of Haryana and nearby states like Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh help Faridabad connect easily to the neighboring regions
- Faridabad has three railway stations, Faridabad, Ballabgarh, and New Town Faridabad. Additionally, at a distance of 25 km from Faridabad is New Delhi and Hazrat Nizammudin Railway Station, through which anyone can travel to the major cities down south, like Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Chennai
- The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will be extending the metro rail service to the city under Phase-III of its expansion drive. Currently, the metro service terminates at the Delhi-Faridabad border, at Badarpur
- Traveling within the city most often entails taking rickshaws and auto-rickshaws. The local trains help people in traveling from inside the city to nearby areas like New Delhi.
Lifestyle
Badkhal Lake, located in Badkhal village, is a prominent tourist spot in the vicinity. Fringed by Aravalli Hills, the lake complex is spread over 40 acres, and was revived by the Haryana government in June 2015 to attract tourists. Other popular attractions include Surajkund Tourist Complex and International Crafts Fair, Anangpur Dam, and religious sites like Shri 1008 Parshvanath Digambar Jain Mandir, Jharna Mandir Village, and ISKCON Temple. Nahar Singh Cricket Stadium in this city can accommodate around 25,000 people and has hosted several prestigious matches.
There are a large number of private schools in Faridabad, as well as numerous educational institutions offering courses on higher education in the fields like science, arts, commerce, engineering, MCA, etc. There also are a host of private and government hospitals in the city to cater to the health care needs of the residents.
