Sangli-Miraj
Sangli (pronunciation (help·info), is a city and the district headquarters of Sangli District in the state of Maharashtra, in western India. It is known as the Turmeric City of Maharashtra due to its production and trade of the spice.[5] Sangli is situated on the banks of river Krishna and houses many sugar factories. Sangli is a major city in Western India 390 km from Mumbai, 240 km (150 mi) from Pune,50 km (30 mi) from Kolhapur, and 653 km (405 mi) from Bangalore. Sangli is known for its turmeric trade, grapes and the largest number of sugar factories in India. The only district has more than 30 sugar factories.[citation needed] Sangli Miraj Kupwad, along with its Urban Agglomeration together known as Sangli Miraj Kupwad Metropolitan Region (SMKMR).
Sangli UA/Metropolitan Region has developed itself as now as a modern city with broader roads, major railway junction, cyber-cafes, hotels with multi-cuisine and very good education facilities. The city has a major healthcare hub including its twin City Miraj. It is also a major city with telecommunication and entertainment facilities. A Software Technology Park is being set up in a prime location of the city.

Sangli-Miraj & Kupwad is a metropolitan area and a municipal corporation in Sangli district in the Indian state of Maharashtra.
Sangli is situated on the banks of river Krishna. Miraj is a railway junction, a major healthcare centre and an export hub of classical Indian musical instruments. Famous hospitals like Wanless Hospital, Krupamayi Mental Hospital and Richardson Leprosy Hospitals are based in Miraj.

Kupwad, formerly a small town, now mainly houses the MIDC industrial area. Kupwad MIDC is an industrial area harbouring many foundries, spinning mills, chocolate factories, oil manufacturing, cold storage etc. Notable foundries are Tulsi foundry, J sons foundry. Lotte is chocolate manufacturing industry. Notable spinning mills like Toto Toya spin ltd. Oil manufacturing factory (Chakan oil mills). Kupwad town has an Employees’ State Insurance Hospital (ESIS Hospital) for the Insured persons and their family who are working in Kupwad MIDC area.
