Connectivity
Chromepet is connected to Chennai by public transportation services including the electric train. It is located on the Beach – Tambaram – Chengalpattu suburban railway network. Tirusulam, Pallavaram, Chrompet, and Tambaram Sanatorium are its nearby railway stations. However, Chrompet Railway Station is the nearest railway station to Chrompet which is located at a distance of 200 mtr via Chennai – Nagapattinam Highway/Chennai – Theni Highway/Trichy – Chennai Highway.

It has excellent connectivity to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport which is located at a distance of 6 km via Chennai – Nagapattinam Highway/Chennai – Theni Highway/Trichy – Chennai Highway.

First phase of Chennai Metro Rail with one of its route Washermanpet – Chennai International Airport (Blue Line – 23.1 km) is passing through the locality. Airport, Meenambakkam, Nanganallur Road, Alandur, Ekkattuthangal, and Ashok Nagar are some stations located near Chrompet.

The Grand Southern Trunk Road (GST) that connects south Indian cities to Chennai passes through this township.

There is a bus stand in Hasthinapuram, a neighborhood on the eastern side of Chromepet Railway Station. Buses to Tambaram, Guduvanchery, T Nagar, High Court, Chengalpet, Avadi, Pallavaram, Velachery, vandalur, Pozhichalur, Broadway, etc. are available from Hasthinapuram.

Proposed & Planned Infra
Proposed plan for Chennai Metro Phase-2 that will involve extension of Line-4 from Lighthouse up to Poonamallee, with the Madhavaram – Sholinganallur and Light House – Poonamallee lines intersecting at Alwarthirunagar. The key focus for Phase-2 is to provide a stable connectivity between the northern (Madhavaram, Thiruvottiyur, Redhills) and southern suburbs (Siruseri, Sholinganallur) and the east parts of Chennai (Light house, Mylapore) to the western suburbs (Porur, Poonamallee).

Tamil Nadu Road Development Corporation (TNRDC) has also an elevated 17.2 km 4-Lane Corridor for the IT Corridor from Taramani to Siruseri.
